It is believed that the first gymkhana (now known as motorkhana) was held at the Mt Gravatt Showgrounds. Later ones were held at Aspley but the home of gymkhanas at Porter’s Paddock at Tingalpa was the most enduring venue.
These days motorkhanas are held on bitumen at Willowbank Raceway (behind the drag strip).
The Club has results of sprint meetings from as early as 1955 with venues being mainly at Strathpine. When Strathpine closed, Lowood became the site for these events until its closure.

Some events were then held at Lakeside with the most recent being held at Queensland Raceway, most of these recent events being part of the Ironman weekend. Most of these recent events being part of the Ironman weekend.
The Ironman weekend is a test of endurance for both competitors and officials; it consists of a night navigation run on the Friday night, a motorkhana and sprint on the Saturday and a hillclimb on the Sunday. The Ironman weekend for 2010 will be held from 17-19 Sept.

Night navigation runs have been part of the Club’s list of events from the earliest of the Club’s days and continue to be held on the third Friday of each month.
