MGCCQ – DARLING DOWNS ALL CHAPTER GATHERING

TOOWOOMBA - 23 - 26 AUGUST, 2024

The Darling Downs Chapter welcomed members from many parts of Queensland to this year's gathering in Toowoomba. The town's famous parks and gardens were looking beautiful after some welcome rain but the weekend weather was sunny and fine. Perfect weather for driving and showing off our cars.

Friday was our registration and Noggin 'n' Natter. Our venue at Picnic Point was spectacular and we all enjoyed the evening festivities with some lovely food and wine. Old friends were reunited and a few new ones made. Our Qld Chapter Liaison, Wayne Kirwan, began his weekend of giveaways and by the end of the weekend every car received a prize of some sort.

On Saturday the participants departed on their choice of Kimber Runs, to New Tivoli Theatre Clifton, The Barn and Scotty's Garage, Jondaryan Woolshed and Glengallan Homestead.

Sunday was a big day which started at the TAFE grounds behind Cobb and Co Museum. Cars were on display for the public to enjoy and all participants were invited to vote on a People’s Choice.   The day was quite warm and sunny and members were pleased to be provided with a lovely lunch at Cobb and Co before departing on their afternoon drives.

Many members drove out to Cambooya to view Col Schiller's shed full of amazing cars. We are so grateful to Col for making his shed available to us. Col has kept the history of the marque alive with his collection of early Morris and MG cars.

On Sunday night we went to Picnic Point again for our Flower Power themed evening. Some of the costumes were very inventive to say the least. There was also a cent sale of wonderful gifts donated by businesses and members.

On Monday morning we were together bright and early for our farewell breakfast held at Cobb & Co Museum.

This topped off a terrific weekend and gave everyone a chance to say goodbye.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and those that made the event possible.
